The museum is best reached by car from the A57 Snake Road by taking the road signposted ‘Derwent Valley’ adjacent to the Ashopton Viaduct.

Buses 242 (Sheffield – Castleton), 89A, 222 and 373 all stop quite near the museum but some routes necessitate a 20 to 30 minute walk.

The Derwent Dam Museum is situated in the west tower of the Derwent Dam in Derbyshire.
